Commodore 64 Music
Submitted on Tue, 01/08/2008Gamelab audio intern Amar Ibrahim experiments with various game consoles and archaic computers to wring musicality from their silicon guts. This time: the Commodore 64.
One of the most interesting and unexpected uses for outdated video game technology is by enterprising musicians, who are modifying and programming game consoles of all types to be used as musical instruments. Using several pieces of software, including SAM, Rhythm Construction Set and Executive 64 Music Synth, Gamelab’s Amar Ibrahim created this song entirely on the Commodore 64 computer, originally released in 1982.
Download and listen to Amar’s Commodore 64 composition, "Gimme Gimme Gamelab." (MP3 format, 500k)
