The Game

Get ready to conquer the universe in Gamelab's first trading card game. Based on the Mighty Beanz toys and produced by Genio Cards, players in the Mighty Beanz Trading Card Game build decks of Bean cards and then race to load up their Galaxies with Beanz while keeping opponents from doing the same. To grab your Space Loot and win the game, you use the Mighty Beanz toys, physically flicking a Mighty Bean to knock down your opponent's Bean! A combination of easy to-learn rules, deep strategy, and Bean shooting action, The Mighty Beanz TCG is sure to knock you out of this world.

The Design

Mighty Beanz is Gamelab’s foray into collectable card games, a genre of game that is incredibly fun and challenging to design. Because players collect cards and create their own decks, each card in a CCG needs to work a bit like a LEGO brick, fitting well into larger structures of player decks and gameplay situations. For the Mighty Beanz game, we created play mechanics that echoed the Weeble-like movements of the Beanz characters, with cards getting knocked over and rolling upside-down. We even included physical play with the Mighty Beanz toys in the game as well. Card design by Gamelab art director Jacqueline Yue.
