The Game Miss the fun of playing with LEGO blocks? Well, look no further than Gamelab's mega-hit for LEGO.com, Junkbot. The title character of Junkbot is a hapless robot with an insatiable appetite for garbage—and your goal is to make sure he gets his trash fix. You don't control JunkBot directly, though. Instead, you take apart and reconstruct his LEGO brick environment, building bridges and stairways to get him to trash cans while avoiding tricky hazards. An open-ended and surprisingly addictive problem-solving game, Junkbot looks, sounds, and plays as smooth as plastic. The Design Junkbot was the first of our many LEGO web games, and they gave us a lot of creative freedom on this title. Our challenge was to translate the modular, construction-based place of LEGO bricks into a digital game. Our solution was to make the game about deconstructing and reconstructing the environment – in Junkbot, you control the world, not the main character. Many years later, Junkbot remains one of the most popular games on LEGO.com. | |
