The Game

BLiX is a superfunkadelic action puzzle starring Spaceman BLiX. Featuring a rubbery techno soundtrack from Michael Sweet at AudioBrain and retro videogame rave flyer graphics, BLiX is cooler than any computer game should be. The object of the game is to ricochet bouncing balls into a central cup by strategically placing bumpers on a playfield. With deceptively simple gameplay, 300 unique levels, and 60 mini-cartoons starring Spaceman BLiX and his interspecies lover Space Monkey, BLiX could be the best web game you’ve ever played.

The Design

BLiX was the first game that Gamelab ever created, a garage band-style collaboration between Gamelab co-founders Peter Lee and Eric Zimmerman, along with audio designer Michael Sweet. The game spans a whopping 300 levels of elegant and varied gameplay, and 60 micro-cartoons about the interspecies love affair between Spaceman BLiX and the Space Monkey. Some things we still like about this game is the “invisible” interface that tells you your score and time remaining without any numbers, and the sound toy interaction that creates music as you move your mouse around the screen.
