Ranjit Bhatnagar Director of R&D (2001-2007) Ranjit worked as the Director of Technology at Word Magazine, where he led the technical development of the art toy Pixeltime and the award-winning multiplayer game Sissyfight 2000 until he became Gamelab's first employee. Ranjit has been exhibiting sound sculpture and alternative musical instruments since 1995, such as the Silence Organ and the MIDI Ironing Board. Recently, Ranjit taught students at the Parsons School of Design to make their own instruments and play in a band, and contributed robotic musical instruments to the Fluxbox, a giant walk-through music box at the Flux Factory gallery in Queens. A selection of his photos are on exhibit until the end of 2007 at the Atlantic Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. Ranjit's favorite games This is the only console game I ever played all the way to the end. Monkeys in spheres - how can you not love that? I never could fly to the blimp, though. Boggle I've never much liked Scrabble, or had any talent for it, but Boggle is my all-time favorite game. Time pressure, competition, and spelling! Ico I never finished this one, but it's so beautiful, I could just hang out under the windmill all day. Guitar Hero Rock on! Fictionary That's the game where one person picks an obscure word and everyone else makes up a fake definition; then we all vote on the funniest and most believable definitions. I've been playing an ongoing email game of fictionary for over ten years. |
