Catherine Herdlick
Director of Game Production
While Catherine's interest in social games began as a youngster with obliging older siblings and cousins, her conviction that fun and games can make the world a better place took its foothold while working in community outreach at the Boston Children's Museum. Since then, she has designed creative, playful experiences in association with organizations including the Brooklyn Children's Museum, MaMaMedia, The Kitchen Gallery/Performance Space, Parsons School of Design, and of course Gamelab. Her independent collaborative work includes The Great All-Nighter puzzle hunt in Lower Manhattan, the Come Out & Play Festival for street games, and Brooklyn-based Cirque This!. She has lectured at New School University, New York University, and the Serious Games Summit in Washington, D.C. Catherine holds a BA in General Humanities and Spanish Literature from Wesleyan University and an MFA in Digital Design from Parsons School of Design.
Catherine's favorite games
Lightning Tag - because it was the first excuse I had to stay out after dark and was also one of the few games I could play as well as the older kids.

Capture the Flag - because of the physically active stealth, strength, strategy, and cooperation required for a good game.

Super Mario Brothers - duh.

Carcassonne - because it's a good "gateway" boardgame for my friends who should be playing strategy boardgames but don't know any better.

Sonic the Hedgehog - because my nephew likes it.

Chu Chu Rocket - because it's insane.
